Hi all.
I have a Suzuki Katana Ak5,de-restricted,i,ve passed my CBT,and also have a full uk driving licence.. As my scooter does 60mph,ive been told its "legally" classed as a motorcycle.. Does this mean i still need to display L-plates ? I know everyone has them de-restricted,but do the police prosecute if they find your scooter is capable of over the 31mph ?Or am i just being paranoid ???? :sarc: Many thanks in advance

if you wanted your bike to be fully legal youd have to change the logbook from moped - motorcycle, and youd need to have a dipped/full beam, make sure your tyres always 1mm tread as apposed to the visible tread only and... yes youd need L plates

but have no L's and slow down to 30 every time you see the feds, thats what everyone else does LOL ;)

if you have a FULL license, you wont need L plates on any motorcycle lol

He means car license i assume.
How long have you had it?
You probably need L's mate.
Keep them full size, and save your self and 120quid and 6 points

right, if you passed befor 2001 your fine to drive a 50 restricted to 30mph without l plates and carry a passenger. this law doesent apply after this time. you need a cbt for ANYTHING over a 30mph machine (moped) regardless of wether you have a full licence or not. full bike licence is pritty obviouse

Many thanks for all your replies,i am a she :-) which probably makes sense :-)
I have a full uk car licence, passed in 2004,and cbt.I was just confused because ppl tel me that if your scooter does more than 31mph the cops are doin them for it :-(.Wondered if i could get away with it by keeping the L,s on as im entitled to rida a 125 with L,s.Does that make sense ? I think a couple of your answers have helped me.Thanks guys x :D

ok went through this with a cooper erlier (got pulled wid a m8)
if you passed your driving licence in the 2 years befor your CBT runs out you dont have to have l plates on a 50cc machine and you can carry passengers. but if you get a 125 you have to display l plates and you cannt carry people

Yeah, that was funny...

If you passed your car test whilst having a valid cbt, this entitles you to ride a 50cc without L's and carry passengers... :bird:
