L Plate Laws

soz if stupid question but Is It legal to cut down an l plate, an in cut around the L and leave a cm of white? cheers :D

My back L was msassive but the bottom snapped off nd my front one is really small and I've never been stopped once nd ive been pasts loads nd loads off pigs and my gf's dad is one and he didn't even say anything about them so i'm cool for now but I know I can get fined :(

It is illegal to cut them down. I have a cut down one on my front but its been like that since new from shop. Just leave it full size, you forget that they are on there.

i had no front 1 for months and a small back 1 that u could bearley c and it was all right untill i got asked to put it on the front my mate got 3 points and a 60 quid fine they r cunt but a week befor i got pulled by traffic old bill and they said i dont need a front l plate and let me go

I bought my scoot brand new and I believe the L plates the shop put are are very slightly trimmed down ont he front just to fit with the body panel.

But yeah, I think it's illegal to have them cut down, and if you really want rid of them, do the motorbike or moped test!

i have never on any of my bikes had a L plate on the front

tell a lie, yes i did, on my area 51, only because it was covering the dog ugly mudguard and it was already on there :rofl:

always always had one on the back though, i wouldnt ride one without it........strange thing was i didnt even have a provisional so it didnt really matter ayway lol

jamie, you can take a test at 16 to get rid of L plates

me? i have a plastic l plate with a 1cm border behind the tranny case, dirty as fuck as is the 7x5 number plate, dont ride like a bellend and you wont get much hassle ;)
