just watched the vid.... its a hard path and a hard grass hill... take your faker on a REAL track (you know, rut's, mud, dirty jumps, banked loose corners) seriously, the vid just proved my point. try out road tyres on a track, FAIL... knobbely's on road... FAIL so yes, on road crossers are fake

the fastest crosser ive rode is a cr250 go on it pretty much all the time wen i go up maiden newton track, n its a proper track like you said, burms, ruts, 10 ft high jumps big straights, dt is ok on it and copes well with all the twisty shit and jumps, not so good on straights and wheelying long distances like big crossers do there because it lacks in power only about 15-17bhp at a guess?, its ok for mucking about and havinbg fun thats what trail bikes are for!

besides the point, ive seen ALOT and i mean alot of people buying big powerful bikes about 3 weeks ago there was an early 90's kx500 up the track was too scared to even clear the jumps, not bad on the straights not alot of use could keep up for obv reasons, but corners and shit if we were close enough by the apex alot of us could beat him, its not about all this power not real crosser blah blha shit ... you should no yourself being a crosser racer its not entirley about the bike its the rider that makes the diff, if you can handle a bike properly possibilties are endless

obv if i was going to take motoxing seriously i would consider something like a real crosser 125 which i have been for a while as the dt isnt as fun. but then i dont have a spare £1500 to hand and extra money for £300+ of riding gear, the dt is a bit of reliable fun nothing else, and performs well on the road, if i bought a road legal real crosser i would guarantee i would be fixing it every day i know i would., but then if i bought a bumble bee tzr or rs i would get pissed off by the fact that it cant go anywhere near offroad and theres plenty of it in dorset, constant maintainence...like the DT isnt enough... way too much shitty overpriced expenisve fairings which all need taking off to sort out simple problems and not to mention cleaning, as the dt will sit on a stand and needs a quick jet wash and its mint again.

fact of the matter is its a good road bike (current model has been running since 1989 design has little adjustments, also voted one of the best learner bikes from mcn) and its a bit of fun offroad without carrying too much maintainence costs and when your doing about 200 - 250 miles a week and paying an arm and a leg for other daily lifes costs (driving lessons in particular) it makes sense unless someone magically hands me a new car, trailer, driving license free of charge + trailer lisence and a moto x bike..., and not everyone has these...

passed my test mate today, thing is i snapped the side stand, well it snapped when i leant on it so that needs replacing and also ive removed the rear indicators, in account for that i can take 950 for a very quick sale unless you want it sorted, ive got 0.03p in my bank now so i cant fix it for 3 weeks...

so you say yo keep up with noobs on kx500's... there shit riders, again a pointless argument, road tyres and mud DONT WORK so it is of NO use on a track... might aswell buy a cheap crosser

its a 2t bike, voted best learner bike (for what reason, oh yes, its visibility alone meaning safety) as for cheap running costs? its a 2t with a young rider.. they get RAGGED, road engines dont like behing ragged... this could go back an forth but its another case of somone defending what they own not practicality (yes ive had a road dt, waste of money and time, as EVERYONE who has sold theres now will tell you) martin hated his, saj got sick of his.. there a waste on road and a waste off road... can have fun in a field wiht a c90.. dont mean its worth buying.

2 grand, thats a nice spankin nsr/tzr and a spankin cr125.... OR you can blow the lot on a bike that is a bit half and half and shit at both by COMPARESEN (why you think the yz replaced the dt for offroad? the dt just dont cut it as a crosser anymore) so yes, if you want an avaragely comfortable clearly visable bike to ride slowly everywhere (even when ragging it) grab yourself a dt and sling it down the first wet hill you get too.... if however you want to feel like you havent wasted your money get a geard road bike and a proper crosser.

same old story, yo CANT have a bike that does everything, if it does, it will do everything in a sub standard manner
