right , I took the carb off this morning and all looks good ,gave it a blow out and clean although it wasn,t dirty
I then re-set the float level to where I thought it should be,ive googled the float height setting but found nothing
so I set it so that the seam/join on each barrel if you like was parallel
with the gasket face on the upper half
of the carb whilst the tang just touches the jet, took the plug out and it was wet ,so I cleaned it up and put it back in, and it started and ran fine, it revved up brill, so I turned the engine off and 5 minutes later I tried to start it
and it wouldn't have it ,but now ive got petrol coming out the upper angled drain / overflow pipe,
its the one at the top right hand side of the carb as you look at it from the mixture screw side
so now I know I need to adjust the float height again ,does anybody know the correct setting please
or il be pissing in the wind for ever
    thanks guys

Trial and error i'm afraid with float heights, could always change the carb though, for a nice shiny new one.

yeah but only as a last resort cuz our lad is pissed off spending on it already:rolleyes:
gonna try it in a min, after a complete thorough check over last night I discovered that the plunger
[ acceleration switch ] was stuck in the down position and the float height was way high, also the gap in the spark plug was way too big ,so ive set that at 0.8mm
also the mixture screw was almost 4 turns out
I set that at 1.5 turns out as a starting point and it fired up lovely with a tiny bit of throttle
    then the battery died
that has been on charge all night ,but before I go out and try it im just gonna google the factory setting on the mixture screw just to be sure
    il report back shortly
    cheers guys

    right guys
    I think its sorted

it cracked up first attempt this morning and ran beautifully, i
made a couple of tiny adjustments to the mixture, then i
took the exhaust off [ when it had cooled down ] so I could take the rear wheel off to have a new tyre fitted i
also fitted new rear pads while I was at it ,after it was all back together it cracked up again first attempt, so I got me lid out and took it round the block and it runs great
no flat spots,no holding back, just nice even gradual power
I managed around 60-65mph at a guess cuz the speedo don't work [more money ]
my lad had a go and he said it flies
so a big thanks to you all
    its very much appreciated
    thanks again
    nel

    yeah mines ok
now ive got a bit of time ,im gonna adjust the valve clearances
along with oil and filters changed
oh and a new ignition block
oh and new bulbs in the indicators
why do folk put 12v 4w bulbs in when they need 12v 21w,s
they flash faster than a fiddlers elbow at the mo
then by that time the gilera and the aerox will need looking at again no doubt :(

Either they're much cheaper or in some misguided way they
think it places less stress strain on the electrics?. :D .

I think you may find that the indicator bulbs on most scooters are 12v 10w
