Re: GUIDE: Why scooters don't go 90-100mph+. The summery at the bottom is using the same bike as in the rest of the article. Your average scooter with an average size rider sitting upright. Not in a sprint frame where you are pretty much lying down with minimal weight. TDR's bikes are sprinters. Designed to cut through the air a hell of a lot more than your average scooter as I said the guide is about normal scooter aerodynamics. Plus TDR do use nos.
Re: GUIDE: Why scooters don't go 90-100mph+. PLUS TDR DID NOT USE NOS IN THEIR QUARTER MILE RUN AND ACHIEVED 100+MPH
Re: GUIDE: Why scooters don't go 90-100mph+. If you make a 50 or even a 70 for that matter reach a true speed of 100mph I'll quite happily shit in an ice cream cone and enjoy every last bite. As far as I know (Probably wrong?) TDR didn't use NOS on their quarter mile run however the scooter used is built for the purpose and drag is the point in all of this. This thread is aimed towards road scooters, faired, with someone sat on it riding.
Re: GUIDE: Why scooters don't go 90-100mph+. Not even a figure that is reachable by tuning a scooter without nos... I see that as a scooter not being able to achieve 100mph.. Ill upload a video in a bit.. My mates gilera runner 183 gets to 101mph at santa pod
Re: GUIDE: Why scooters don't go 90-100mph+. I hope your friend was sitting upright and is around 12 stone? For the 4-5th time the guide is about aerodynamics in relation to top speed and how you need a large increase in power to add only a few mph the higher the speed gets. Oh and yes TDR do use nos. They have been for the past few years anyway. Both of them are on this forum. They didn't used to use nos as far as I know but they were only just getting above 100mph on a insanely tuned bike that is purpose built for doing it which I have already said as well.
Re: GUIDE: Why scooters don't go 90-100mph+. Well jsut wanted to clarify that it is possible for a ped to be got to 100mph without nos
Re: GUIDE: Why scooters don't go 90-100mph+. who exactly owns this legandary 101mph runner then and where the fuck has he ben the last 6 years of racing? shiny has the quickest time of a gilera runner at santa pod and it isnt 100 mph.. so i think that your friend neds to phone them up and change there record board's as they have made an obvious mistake... after all, your friends bike did 101mph. clearly the fastest time of the year (even against the sprinters) you sir, are FULL of shit. isnt it strange how everybody has a friend with blah blah blah?
Re: GUIDE: Why scooters don't go 90-100mph+. LOL! yes i lied.. My friend was TDR who which achieved 105mph/108mph WITHOUT NOS!! Yes they do use nos but when they achieved that speed they didn't!
Re: GUIDE: Why scooters don't go 90-100mph+. i,ll hold u to that fella haha and i don't want to argue with anyone i always state my opinion and according to your findings to the untrained eye it looks as if bhp = speed but obviously there are a lot more factors top this including weight/power to weight, aerodynamics, rolling radius/gearing can you confirm you agree with this ?
Re: GUIDE: Why scooters don't go 90-100mph+. on a sprinter, that weighs about 40kg... thats about a foot high/wide... so NOT exactly what were talking about here. there have been verry few fully faird scooters that actually hit close to 100mph and they have a whole load more quoted bhp and the times speak for themselves. to 60mph wind is pritty irelevent, above this it SERIOUSLY puts a strain on your engine and you do need more power. think of wind at 80mph like you trying to run through water... the faster you go the deeper it gets... high speed wind increases in density. density requires force to move through, the denser something is, the more force it takes.. its all simple year 10 physics.
Re: GUIDE: Why scooters don't go 90-100mph+. Great guide thanks. I am pushing 75 but 65-70 is perfect. I do wonder what a little tuning will do to my bike.
Re: GUIDE: Why scooters don't go 90-100mph+. On Adrenaline Pedstop they claim to say that the new Polini evolution 94cc does 98mph and has 27.7hp, would you say thats the dyno speed or acutal speed ?
Re: GUIDE: Why scooters don't go 90-100mph+. That's on zip wheels isn't it ? And you couldn't use that engine on the road lol.
Re: GUIDE: Why scooters don't go 90-100mph+. Yeah and i didnt say anything about it being on the road
Re: GUIDE: Why scooters don't go 90-100mph+. Ive hit 87mph with my 4 stroke gilera 125 with nothing dont to it not cylinder kits, carburetors nothing it took a while to get to that speed but still got to it
Re: GUIDE: Why scooters don't go 90-100mph+. ive hit 96mph on my 172 gilly racing beside my guy in his bmw
Re: GUIDE: Why scooters don't go 90-100mph+. You obviously havent been to rtr in nottingham lol, Quite cappable of 100mph easy
