Why tha fuck does every one say it wont last long on the road????
Good mate of mine had a '05 CR85 brand new, we thrashed the bollox out of it for 3 years and it never had a rebuild, The power was always there when we wanted it and the powerbands were always jumpy as fuck....
So not being horrible or nothing but if you think it needs a rebuild every 6 hours you either have more money than sence or your just plain fucking stupid.....
If you was a TOP racer in MX1/MX2 for example, then yeah. On a 85cc you dont need to....

Erm crossers are built for racing, and they need to be looked after.

that means gearbox oil changed every race meeting (3 x 25min races + 15min practice)
    Airfilter cleaned every meeting
    rings every 2-3 meets
sprockets and chain depending on wear

plus the fact that before there raced, there warmed up fresh fuel goes in.
    chain is lubed up

theres loadsa looking after to do

and to get one on the road, fuck me thats alot of EXPENSIVE work to do for an 85

    1. you gotta decide whether you want a small wheel or big wheel and then get road going tires
    2. full chain guard
    3. exhaust system, standard systems are way too loud for road use
    4. gna need a brake light as a minimum let alone indis and front lights
    5. will need a battery, and will have to charge it manually cos theres no stator to power a battery
    6. emissions may not be too good on it, so may have to detune it

plus your bound to find most things a real pain, like finding a place for a battery, fitting a brake switch and hiding wires etc.
Gona have to run pemix, which is long
and then the worst thing is security, youve got no steering lock and no ignition. so can be started without keys.

it would be mint it really would, but for the money, time and effort it ent worth it

if you want crosser power then stick a crosser lump in a road going supermoto, im sure someone once made a cr500 powered motoroma LOL

lol sorry to spam and piss on your fireworks but yeh as alex said its not as nice as it sounds

yeh a cr85 may last 10 years without an engine rebuild but it will run like shit
also you most probably used it OFFROAD

i.e what is DESIGNED to be used for

what your doing is mixing two different concepts and hoping its going to work like trying to stick a boat on the road with wheels , you get me

for example on a day to day basis you are going to fucking trash your chain and sprocket set up as the rear wheel on motoXers dont have cush drive rubbers so you are going to have to buy a nice matching rear wheel from a good road bike, which is expensive and not as easy as it sounds

the gearboxes etc are not as well made on the majority on them (coughcoughrm85cough)

and if you live in a built up area which it seems you probably do because someones tryed nicking/nicked your old runner then they will be rubbing their hands together if they see you stop once outside to nip in to tescos to get a drink or something

a good idea but a bad concept, they will last if you throw lots of money a them, they are simply not designed to be on a road from the wheels to the frame structure

so dont waste your time unless you can fit a motoX lump in a road bike , simple

It was more on-road than off road, as the first year he had it, it was kept in spain and he had a villa in Alicante near the mountains, and he said that his village was so remote you could just ride on the road all day long, and he used to and his dad would be on the quad. But even still, I got videos of it about 2 months before it was sold, and that was 3 years of abuse. I will post it up.
And the point of putting a mx lump in road bike would be??
fair enough, you will have a steering lock, brake lights, head lights etc.
But the only road bike I would go for is the Limited Edition Senda that my mate has.

And they are not cheap either....
Either way, I'm going to do it.
In the mean time I will buy a stalker/NRG or something of the type cheaply just to get me to/from work on (when I get a job) The CR will be for when I'm just going out with the boys and will be kept in my garden and theres no way of getting to it unless you go through house/side garage
