Gilera Runner 172 Engine build

Log of my 172 engine build!

First need to get bearings out!





Engine then went off to get aqua blasted!
Result - free of all bearings/mounts and super clean!!!








Maybe get rear caliper mount welded - still considering if its cost effective - will wait on that one


Gearbox - 15/32 12/42 - prize who guesses what its from (not sure myself) - will be fitting secondary gear up kit anyway


Now off to tuners to get this lot fitted.

Looking good,will be lovely with the effort you are putting in to it

 

Put a clear coat of satin laquer over the engine cases before you do any work on them.
Or use vht paint

 

Bit of an update on current progress:
Crank has been fitted along with fresh bearings, seals, gearbox and all new engine mounts.

(1344) \ (180) = 7.466

probably from a skipper or typhoon (both come with 10 inch wheels/ rolling nut). The case cover is from a typhoon.

the gear ratio on both of my skipper motors is 7.something probably the same as yours

So looking for a rear wheel for this engine is becoming quite a task.
From measuring the rear drum looks like its 140mm - so will i need a big drum wheel?
I know you can get these from other similar models but not sure which will fit?

Any ideas or even better have one for sale?

 

I've got a couple of rear wheels off a Runner sitting about under the shelf, both drum types
