I used mole grips on the kickstart toothy washery thing. Held that against the crankcase, and loosened the nut. *edit* kickstart castle washer
i seen people do this by holding the rear brake on but each to there own personally if u have noi not gun get a mate tol hold the variator by hand put a ring spanner over the nut or use a socket and slide bar and tap then end of spanner/slidebar with hamer the shock should undo it quite easily
another way of holding the variaqtor woulld be to use your belt that holds ya trouses up wrap it round it and hold it to keep it tight with a friend if u get wat i mean while u spin nut of with socket
Dont wear belts lol and i dont see how holding the back brake would work because i think the drivbelt only starts to spin when the bike is on and you give it revs and i dont really fancy trying to get a socket on to a bolt while the things spinning about 1 thousand times a minute the chances are ill be spinning with it lmao :yahoo:
so9 try the first option i gave u with the engine off obviously and use a friend to hole it and shock it with a hammer i got mine off on my own doing this so isnt hard tbh i have an air gun but dont see the poiunt when its so easy like this
I put the new rollers in today but my mate put abit of this black grease on them will they be ok? :glare:
wheres the point in turning the compressor on and getting the air line out and an air gun when i can just give it a tap with the copper hide hammer on the end of a spanner and its off is pointless ok the clutch pulley one i used a gun because its sprung the point im trying to get across is it is easy to get the variator off without an airgun! :yahoo:
oil on your rollers lol well i suppose when the variator turn its centrifugal force that pushes them out and there isn't really any grip involved lol u don't need grease on them but from a physics point of view oiling them wouldn't make a lot of difference grease could make them sticky - stick in and not throw out or get stuck out so i suppose the oil could make them get stuck out and u bike would over rev when your trying to stop
sorry for the late reply...am on holiday at present The boa belt wraps around the outside of the clutch drum...you take the slack out by pulling the bottom side of the belt through the handle and then use the handle to lever against the clutch drum. In doing so, it traps the belt and allows it to tighten and you can then stop th drum spinning. You can get then cheap off ebay or somewhere like screwfix http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&...=aps&hvadid=7338511233&ref=pd_sl_7c84mk4pe8_b BTW, greasing the rollers in the variator will allow hem to colect all the crap that flies about at the rear of the cover. It'll stick to the grease and then the rollers will wear faster
