wich have the grease boiled out.. when supplied for use as 2t crank bearings there clean of any lubricants bar a little machine oil if there not ntn's.. the grease will burn off, but the beaqring having to move the grease and the lack of 2t when fuel hits it means there is an overlap period where theres no oil on the bearings.. just not worth leaving in/applying as they should go in dry if done right.
true, i just soak the bottom-end in oil before fitting the barrel, and give a squirt into the mains before fitting the seals.
i assemble completly dry to feel what the engine is saying, the pour 10ml down each oil hole and slowly roatate the engine round to let the oil cover everywhere.. then build with a wet piston (after checking squish of course) and spin 100 or so times by hand lent on ether side. tis better to smoke like a 23 year old ford than be chuckin grease an allsorets through it
well i started rebuilding it today. seemed to go well i think. got the engine all back in ready to start. and it wudent no spark!! so going to check a few things hopefully running tomorow. the question is. how well ?
right it is really fucking me offf :rtfm: cant get it to spark, checked all stator wires, cleaned all the contacts. checked wire to cdi and coil etc. tried new plug. i just cant get it to spark :rtfm: what the fuck could i have done wrong ? and if i have i cant see what ? help me please :w00t:
have u got a electronic multimeter? try checking from the stator to the ht lead is all your loom plugged in properly to the engine start from scratch and work your way round the loom and check the lot always think what you have disturbed needs resetting again, sounds like a simple problem to me if the engine is fitted properly and turns over smooth
yeh i have a multimeter thing i borrowed but is old as fuck and cant use it  will be something or nothing but it is fucking me right off !
first thing i can think of is the neg wire from the starter motor.. without this in place the engine is positive and the spark is created on the brake cable join (only other place frame is metal to metal with the engine) id pull all the wiring tho an start again, plug in the cdi, run the wire from the cdi to the coil then check for a spark with NOTHING else plugged in.. if theres a spark plug the loom block back in and recheck.. if theres no spark the ignition switch rec or starter relay is earthing the cdi out
well the starter wires wernt on becuasse i dont use it so didnt wire it up but i also tried it with the neg on the battery. you mean where the cable joins to the rear lever on the engine because that wasnt on either. i never tried it with out the loom plugged in so will give that a bash then. really is pissing me off am getting the feeling the stator is putting anything out though. and even when i sort this shit is only a small chance will be ok anyways. wish i never tried now
minor you are a fucking legend !!!!!  put brake cable on spark straight away. then kicked straigt up and seems to tick over fine. cant hear any strange noises or anything. just wait and see how long it lasts imp:
ok, so your missing the earth wire from the starter motor... i run a second earth just to be sure as the bottom earth rots away and looses its connection. the runner's have an earth wire seperate and no neg wire on the starter motor hence are earthed differently (if its a runner engine this is why theres no spark)
yeah the neg that goes to the starter isnt on but i tried it with the started neg on the battery and still didnt work but works now with cable on brake. well happy
heres a very quick vid of it idling with a few little blips of throttle. sound slike idle mix needs adjusting but was cold just started it  http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=qZePfcc5ai8
went out on it again today. did a good few miles, went into centre of leeds round round for abit. seems fine so far. a few pics aswell.
