you could do it a gunmetal grey gloss.... would look different to gloss black (not so bright) so will give the same look your after wiht the matt black.... matt never looks the colopur it should. colour isnt really colour till its got clear matt black looks so different as glos black will carry a colour wiht it (usually looks silver/blue in parts once its polished out) where as the grey i recon if dark enough will look close to the look of the matt black once polished out... oh and it will be shiny uptoyou att he end of the day... its your bike, go look at some paint books in halfords (ask at the paint and numberplate section) you may find you settle on somthing completly different to what your thinking. theres always somthing that will catch your eye.
still cant decide on a carb size. end of the day its a reliability issue,im going by terros "no chance in hell of your crank snapping" guide which uses a 17mm, i cant see the 21mm making it much more unreliable but like i said above this is my first real motor tuning.
hey man... like i said in the PMs ... if you need to buy a carb anyway, just get the 21... i had a 17.5 standard on mine... and the 21 is so much better btw i dont mind the matte black... although not something id do... i dropped my scoot the other day too... so ill be up for a respray when my house is finished. I hit the deck doing 65kmph.... lucky i had my jacket and gloves on
few pics from today. thats jut dust on the front of it there but as you can see the bit near the legshields could do with another coat, theres a few runs aswell but youd have to be looking for flaws. overall im delighted with how it all turned out bar the few spots i need to touch up. I think that i thanked my lucky stars when the engine actually fired up first kick
i still see dents..... well, flat bits where thers oibviously fgiller and were dents... use a sanding block next time and go wiht the direction of the pannel. cant say i like it... its how mine was when i bought it... lookes bodged/hurried. but then i knew it would.... its matt black. still, good on ya, getting on wiht it thas the main thing. glad it fired right up aswell. always nice when they start first time.
cool man.. apart from that flat spot on the front, it looks like a half way decent job. yeah... i would have used a rubber block to sand back the bog.... i know the painting is the fun bit, but 90% of the work is in the prep... its all a learning experience. im thinking my next colour will be Yellow with a gold pearl
fited the 70 and the 21mm carb yesterday and got it all running, carb needs setting up now, postman came today with a big gianelli box, opened it up expecting a shiny new reverse only to be greeted by a gianelli smile ale: Will this be alright or am i best sending it back for the right pipe. dont wanna pay the postage to send it back to belfast.
if its the wrong part advertised its not your place to pay postage.. its the sellers. dont even think about putting it on your bike. wank pipe
yep getting a refund because the reverse is apparently "unavailible" dunno what pipe i should stick on now, any recommendations? i can only find the reverse on ebay and my ebay account isnt in good standing
lazer made the best peak power, on the setup in the pipe test, out of the ipes that were tested.. the gianelli reverse and yasuni's are not present in the test.. the yasuni r is an ok ipe, the rest are just poo (thats sports pipes for you) some are slightloy less poo than others, but there all just poo.
settling for a zx for the time being, few reasons i chose it over somthing else, cost for 1 and the wide powerband. will upgrade it though when im not so much of a n00b, found a malossi sponge in the shed that i had for my et4 but never fitted, same part no as et2 box so im thinking would it be worth slapping into the airbox?? are there any loss/gains from using one?
right banged on the leo today, banged in a 78 main and 5,5 rollers, first thoughts VERY impressed with the torque and acceleration from this but its running rich (though having too much oil going through it might mimic that, but it feels rich given) it accelerates a bit harder when the throttle is not fully open. what would be a good place to start with jetting? setup: Dr70 21mm dellorto leo zx 5,5 rollers 78 main polini reeds (not yet installed but dont think that would effect jetting?) malossi sponge
