If I recall correctly, the coil pickup is a little bit "in-and-out-able" on the screws. It's worth cleaning the part that faces the rotor too.

I will have a look tomorrow and if it is indeed a little bit "in-and-out-able" then ill move it and report back:p

Have you actually done a compression test? With the tester?
From what I'm reading, if fuel is getting to the plug, and you have a spark, then it should at least try and start.
The other thing is it could be over fueling, that is the main jet is too big and causing flooding which can happen really quickly on small bore engines.

Hi Stevep, no i have not actually measured compression as i do not have a tester but ive done the ol' thumb over the spark plug hole. And im using a Speedy 100 PHVA carb with a 81 jet

F**ks sake, here we go again. Another one with the finger in the 'ole:rolleyes:
10psi will blow your finger off the hole, that engine needs at least 100psi to work properly, AND YOUR FINGER AINT NO PRESSURE GAUGE!
Get hold of or go and buy a compression tester, its one of the best investments you will make and they are not expensive.
When you've bought one, do the test and post a photo of the readings please.

Okay, looks like the bikes gonna have to sit for a while as I can't afford one atm. Being 17 with no job and having parents that don't agree with 2 wheeled transport makes things very difficult:eek:

Find a mate who knows someone who has one and borrow it, or get them to come round and do the test for you.

Just done a test, around 100 psi. But now I have a bigger issue.... I have no spark all of a sudden?

No spark means that the CDI isn't delivering one. That could be due to a flat battery not pulling the starter relay on, a loose connection betwen the stator, ignition switch and coil or the plug cap ain't on properly. Also check that the live wire (the only one to it) hasn't fallen off the ignition coil.

One end into the coil, the other end into the spark plug cap

You have a little ignition coil with one thin wire going to it from the CDI unit. The other side is the spark plug cable. Has it become detached?

Found the ignition coil and no wires are detached (my coil has two wires?) So I took my stator off to see if I had fitted it incorrectly and found this... 20160512_084545.jpg

Does the headlight flicker if you turn the bike over? Can you tell if the alternator is powering the lighting circuit (head and tail lamps)?
