    Yes I remember the Monarks...Swedish..blue & yellow..high quality components...they made a good enduro bike..saw them quite often back in the 70s..
    Sachs supplied engines..100 & 125cc that appeared to be identical except for the bore...to a lot of specialty manufacturers..Penton, DKW, Monark, Tyran, Dalesman & others.
    One little oddity was that only DKW carried its own name on the engine sidecovers since Sachs had the rights to it at the time. DKW has so much history in 2 stroke bikes and even cars..vans..the little 2 stroke cars can be quite valuable but hard to find.
    The Rupp is a physically large bike...it is tall & rangey...similar to a Penton...it has conical hubs with grease fittings for the wheel bearings...at the time a conical hub would have been state of the art..

    Well DAMMIT! :mad::mad:
    Today I put some fresh mix in it and started kicking & found out it has good compression but only got a couple of wimpy pops out of the motor...kick a while & rest a while..
    Im afraid it has a bad Motoplat...with the plug out and pushing it through..only the occasional weak spark :mad:
    I had so hoped to hear it run....the Motoplat has to be the biggest problem ever with these motors..
    My DKW is on its 3rd one now before a reliable spark....PVL make a replacement ignition but its $$$400+
    I have too many other places to put $400..

    we had tempo over here too, they used a sachs motor. can you not use an ignition of another bike to run it from?

    SteveP - I had a late '60s Bultaco. That thing would pump its self up a telephone pole. I really liked that bike. Very dependable. One of the good ones that got away as tastes changed.

    Now days I would like to have a street legal / dirt bike in the 250cc range. I will keep my eyes open for a basket case.
    I don't want to get stuck in traffic after the next earthquake here in California.

    im on the hunt for a decent crosser myself, for my next bike, i want to go trailing through the woods, sure the vf does it, but a crosser has higher seat, so its better for my knees, rode a yamaha wr450 that was a good sized bike for me
