i kee meaning to do a proper polishgin guide.. but im lazy and fuckin gunky by the time i start... be warned. tallo is messy fuckin shit and its a pain when you want rid of it... i have a mop i use to flatten tallo then use a good degreaser to break it down. kills off shine tho. polishing is about patience an process.. you CANT rush/skip anything
tallo is a product made form pig fat... you can use lard but its shit by comparesen, go hardware shop an ask for it.. they will know what to give you have a play, use too much and you jus gotta clean loads off when it comes to buffing.. use to little and it dont do shit. you will get a feel for it
I'm deffo gonna have a pop at that tomorrow. For 30p cant go wrong. Just get messy buy sounds of things LOL Saves alot money getting it chrome dipped or polished :w00t:
depends where you go, i know a place local to me that would of done a tranny case for 35 quid, it looks shit tho, u can polish up a tranny case to a mirror finish and it looks the tits. Chroming is the lazy option lol
Chrome takes more work than polishing hence the cost is more. It's a whole lot more work though. Good chrome/polish takes time and skill. It's actually pretty cheap when you see the work that goes into it. To chrome something well you have to mirror finish polish it before you dip it. It then gets buffed again. Not something you can do at home.
hmm i can get lard for free i have a few tonnes at work lol ive nevver heard of tallo tho but ill ask at work 2moz
Ahem... Kieran? :w00t: Dont mean to be a pain in the ass Minor. But are you going to do a guide? As I would like to know the proper way to do it, rather than sitting there with a couple of different grades of sand paper LOL
that pig fat stuff smells xD got sum here now, managed too nick a small tub from college electrics course lool im gonna have a blast tomorow at it
ill do a guide next time i polish somthing... its not "the right way" theres many diff ways.. lime powder after you buff also brings ali up mentally bright. but ye many many ways to polish a bit of metal. can simply go from 180 to 240 to 600 to 1200 wet an dry with lots of water and stilkl get it near mirror befor you buff it off... the buffer realkly is the last little bit tbh. main thing is get it EVEN and FLAT with whatever grade... the most work is with the 180 as it gets it all flat and uniform, if theres black dots on it and you go up a grade it will never be perfect. tallo is just a way of keeping the paper lubricated other than water and it holds the ali dust turning the wet and dry into graded compounds so your actually polishing wiht the ali you remove from the item being polished. i can get a mirror finnish wiht nothing more than my hands and some sandpaper/bit of butter out the fridge LOL
I'm currently polishing up a couple of bits... I could throw up a guide? One of them is the biggest pain in the arse though. As minor says it's all about getting it flat with the lowest grade. Pointless going up until it is. Most people don't bother as far as i've noticed.
