Not got that much to spend? Only planning on keeping your 50 for a year and can't live with 30mph? Well you have come to the right place.

These are a couple of budget tuning specs that will get you going pretty quick but don't blame me if the power supply is a little weird. That's what you get for cheaping out. Please note that the prices are correct as of December 2010 and are subject to change. Only a couple of years ago both setup's would have cost you over £100 less as the price of materials and the exchange rate of the euro to the pound has gone up and as pretty much all scooter parts come from Europe this means prices go up.

The prices are for a LC Piaggio engine. Take away about £20-30 for an air cooled setup.

First up is the on the cheap but bloody powerful setup. It has no reliability due to the 70cc kit only having one ring but it shouldn't snap your crank.

    Stage6 Racing 70cc kit. £155.
    Yasuni City 16 exhaust. £205.
    Stage6 Jet Box. £13.
    Polini Hi-Speed Variator kit. £74.
3 Sets of Malossi rollers. £21.
    Polini Clutch Spring box. £10.
    Stage6 Primary Gear-up. £56.

Total Cost = £534. Power output at the rear wheel = 11-12bhp. True Top Speed = 70-75mph.

Next is the not that fast but very reliable setup. No chance in hell of your crank snapping. The 70cc kit has two rings so it will last for ages. It used to be that you could get a very cheap chromed exhaut for this setup but now days there is only about a £10-20 price difference between a pretty poor chromed exhaust or a very nicely made and powerful unchromed exhaust so it makes more sense to buy a better exhaust and paint it in VHT spray paint to keep it from rusting.

    Malossi Sport 70cc kit. £126.
    Yasuni R exhaust. £154.
Can of VHT (Very High Temperature) spray paint. £10.
    Stage6 Jet Box. £13.
3 Sets of Malossi rollers. £21.
    Polini Clutch Spring box. £10.
    Stage6 Primary Gear-up. £56.

Total Cost = £390. Power output at the rear wheel = 8-9bhp. True Top Speed = 60mph(ish).

I havn't added a larger carb to the list's as if your bike has the standard 17.5mm carb it should be enough. The BHP figures and exhaust choices reflect a 17.5mm carb.

If you are using a Minarelli engine which is fitted in Yamaha Aerox's, some SR's, Yamaha Jogs, etc. A variator kit is pretty much a must buy even on the cheaper setup. They are about £50 for just the variator or you can buy a kit with a few other useful bits for £74 as stated above. If you do not know which engine your bike has please post on the forum and someone should be able to indentify it for you.
