Re: Taylor Broadhurst 172 Promo bike for Maxi Launch**updates** So how much did the panels cost off that euro then?
Re: Taylor Broadhurst 172 Promo bike for Maxi Launch**updates** Not been following this but read through the thread and could`nt help notice the dyno run. Come on! 13000 rpm from a 183cc gilly engine!! If it is indeed a gilly 183 that would mean a 55 crank and given the maths (which I tend to do a lot of nowadays) the maximum safe piston speed at 4000fpm (and that`s the outer limits of safety) is 10700rpm. With 1.2mm (malossi) thick piston rings ring flutter will occur in the 9800-10200rpm range. Take an engine of the above specs to 13000rpm and it`ll destroy it`self long before it reaches that limit (my best guess is it`ll wreck the rings first by jamming them into the lands just before it smears the piston all over the bore  ) Taking things to the limit can be done, Joe Elliot told us that the PM sprinter ran at 10200rpm and our sprinters on gas have ran up to 10600rpm but they do that for about 9 seconds. If that is indeed a 183 I would question the dyno software. Not being arsey or anything it`s just physics and metalurgy
Re: Taylor Broadhurst 172 Promo bike for Maxi Launch**updates** Your eyes are decieving you pete as far as i can remember it did 9.5k rpm's on the standard 125 gearing (silly me never ordered a gear up at that time ), the speed on the left was in KMPH on the screen were it shows revs on the right I'm in no way doubting your knowledge, just telling it as i remember it
Re: Taylor Broadhurst 172 Promo bike for Maxi Launch**updates** mr blue  where did you learn all off this stuff are you an engineer of some sort or just picked the books about it? (sorry for the spam breamster)
Re: Taylor Broadhurst 172 Promo bike for Maxi Launch**updates** Sounds like it's gonna be a beast but I bet you've spent a mint on it? Not trying to say you shouldn't, I spent about 2k on my first runner.
Re: Taylor Broadhurst 172 Promo bike for Maxi Launch**updates** Thought that was way too high rpm cratch: I`ve just freezed the frame on 1.37 (1 minute 37sec) and the green figures on the left show 130 speed, 40 power and 13000rpm cratch: Take it they don`t relate to that run? Any idea what they relate to? A great looking scoot bye the way and i`m sure there are a few more ponies lurking in there  As for your question Dave, been building engines on and off for 30years plus I have some very trick software for running all sorts of simulations
