Re: Taylor Broadhurst 172 Promo bike for Maxi Launch sounds rich as hell.... lets see it going up the road already?!?!?!
Re: Taylor Broadhurst 172 Promo bike for Maxi Launch anyone good with wiring wanna come wire the clocks/switchs & a kill switch in for me ?
Re: Taylor Broadhurst 172 Promo bike for Maxi Launch happily... 30 an hour plus first class british airways ticket LOL nah, follow the wiring diagram. the clocksa have a common earth. theres 2 wires joined for the indi warning lights (pink wire and a mixed white and blue wire) theres a fuel warning light (yellow/green) a backlight wire (purpleish) a high beam warning light (yellow and black) the oil warning light (THINK its red and white) the rest are prittymuch irelevent kill switch is simple..piggyback the green from the ignition into the switch and the out of the switch to earth. the switch earths the green wire. all pritty simple. think of it one wire at a time
Re: Taylor Broadhurst 172 Promo bike for Maxi Launch ive done the clocks and sort of done the kill switch, its the wiring in off the stage 6 switchs that stump me at the moment the thing that pisses me off a little with the wiring is the fact that ive wired the clocks up, but the lights done go off, i.e. the high beam light dont go off, meaning ive probably wired them straight into the power ? were as i should really wire the power on the switchs into that wire ? then the light wire on the clocks say for the indis into the output for the indi lights ? if ya get me and to wire in a killswitch all i do is break the gear wire coming off the stator which ends up going into the loom ? or on the ignition were theres 4 wires (white, red, green & black) ? the clock manual also says i need to wire the clocks into the 12v ignition ? im assuming thats the red one ? can you not tell im rubbish with wiring p.s. the bikes got no ignition key or owt so just using killswitchs for time being
Re: Taylor Broadhurst 172 Promo bike for Maxi Launch then yes, if the green from the stator is not connected to anything wire this to the switch and then out of the switch to earth.. so in the "on" position (continuity through the switch) the green is to earth thus killing power to the coil... the high beam stays on as youve used the power in for the DASH light into the highg beam warning light. grab a manual/wiring diagram. if your using a loom you NEED the ignition switch to put power through the fuse box that is fed by the rec via the 2 yellows from the stator. tell me what you have on the frame (as in what you do have and what you dont) sounds to me like your making a right headache for yourself.. just run a normal loom as you normally would but remove the clocks and wire what you need, idsolate what you dont. if its an all out race bike (as in no headlights indi's or battery) i can draw/describe a loom for you. race looms are a peice of piss once you understand what gets power from where
Re: Taylor Broadhurst 172 Promo bike for Maxi Launch its a road bike all i have is the typh 125 loom, koso universal clocks & the stage 6 switchs, theres no stater motor either id like to wire the clocks and the switchs in, after thinking about it all morning ive sorta figured out how to do it i think i have a full wiring diagram as i picked up the haynes manual the other day and the wiring diagrams for the accessories which tell you what each wire does
Re: Taylor Broadhurst 172 Promo bike for Maxi Launch 1 run down, many many more to come running super lean tho at the moment and rollers are far from set up, knocking out 24.06bhp Video of a run or 2 to come tomorrow as theres a full night on the dyno ahead :yahoo: p.s. shes like a bucking bronko of the dyno, weve strapped it down so it back ends super compressed and it still tries to buck itself loose
Re: Taylor Broadhurst 172 Promo bike for Maxi Launch sounds good breamy i need to get a crack on with mine just need some more funds
Re: Taylor Broadhurst 172 Promo bike for Maxi Launch ye it sounds like its wiried directly to the clocks...removing the original switches makes a bit more work for yourself as there usually setup different. ie, theres power in and power out to the clocks from the switches. you probably have wired them directly/wired the switch up wrong.. the ignition has 4 wires.. the red is constant 12v. the white is 12v with the ignition on, the black is earth and the green is earthed with the ignition off. best bet, unwrap ALL the tape from the loom from the wires at the clock end untill you literally get to the lom, so you have 22 odd wires all in one place. you will find that alot of wires from the switches and clocks go to eachother... follow the diagram in the haynes manual. get the headlight curcit working first of all (not easy seing as it has a 2 position switch and a 2 position controller (wich makes sidelights dipped and full beam) you CAN wire the sidelights up constantly with the ignition, its how most bikes are wired up these days (infact most you dont even have a headlight switch, just dipped and full) but ye, to make it easy you can wire the sides in to constant from the ignition and loose that wire/switch. this means you can have the clock pannel backlight on constantly wiht the ignition also. the switch JUST cuts this connection anyway it doesent make it. the rest is a simple case of find the wire.. so indicator directional warning lights are powerd from the relay straight to the clocks (both on one plug on the typh so you can split them into directional warning or use them as a single indicatore warnign light) the oil warning light, petrol warning light and the battery light are on a common earht and require obviously the clocks earthed and one wire only to feed each light wich is simple. the brake light switches should all remain the same and untouched so just tuck them back and forget them for now.. you should only be left wiht a few wires left. you might need some help wiht this one me thinks
Re: Taylor Broadhurst 172 Promo bike for Maxi Launch the old lambretta dys !! we hardly had any wires
Re: Taylor Broadhurst 172 Promo bike for Maxi Launch if you need any help i have same setup with clocks and switchs but like minor said youve probly wired them straight to the red on ignition side needs to be on the white
Re: Taylor Broadhurst 172 Promo bike for Maxi Launch come on, rollers are DESPERATELY heavy.. can see the lien just falls off... whats in there?
Re: Taylor Broadhurst 172 Promo bike for Maxi Launch line falls off as its missing a gear up so the run ends at 75ish which is the end of the current gearing (180box) Hopefully the gear up kit should be here monday so that should sort out the sharp drop were the run ends the rollers are perfect at the moment, till next week when the real dyno setup happens, trying a few pipes onit and a race ignition to try and force more out, itll be back in the workshop stripped down monday for a few days dyno testing till we find the absolute perfect setup for this engine we know its got it, just something holding 4/5bhp back
Re: Taylor Broadhurst 172 Promo bike for Maxi Launch rollers are FAR from spot on, the peak power is at initial power and it falls off horidly from there.. dyno shows it pritty clear. gear it up and work on the rollers.. it should be a flat line from 20 right to 80mph (and beyond) that just looses and looses, its all tranny m8 looks promising tho.
Re: Taylor Broadhurst 172 Promo bike for Maxi Launch Speed means nowt anyway on dyno with an auto, Darryl only runs the Zips to 60mph when they can do a lot more. You should open it up the power will rise to peak very very quickly then level off and stay at that level throughout regardless of what speed you are doing. Your rollers/tranny should enable the engine to max out at the RPM that peak power is made and hold it there. You wont find any more power the higher mph you do. Like my Zip thats 22-23bhp from 5mph - 85mph
Re: Taylor Broadhurst 172 Promo bike for Maxi Launch heres how she stands at the moment, Still far from done tbh
