yea when I've fitted all the new bits I'll tune it in roughly so it runs only way to be accurate is on the dyno so will pay them for that as it shouldn't cost much more than a dyno run on mine its out to richen an in to lessen the mix
thanks for that well i tried to install the air filter but failed because the centre frame is in the way and need an extension pipe of about 100mm straight fit, so I put some more decals on. And had a go at the wifes too
When I come to have a go at replacing the lump of an airbox for an open filter type I spotted this Which come from here But anway back to the job in hand I also changed the stock breather pipe from the gearbox to the airbox to a clear one and re fed it into the air system along with the head top pipe to the same place. After preliminary inspection and throttle response i am leaving the fuel mix alone until ive had chance to take it for a run and see what the plug is like afterwards
Well I took the Scoot out for its first outing today since i got it and half mile down the road the front tyre wen't flat took it to the garage blew it up and it was fine picks its feet up quite well but after 15 minutes the air filter is way to noisy for me and will coming off again in due coarse...
Haha not a bad idea but i cant even put up with headphones bit weird i know so for now ive put the std box back on and much better but a little slower on acceleration... maybe go down the route and stick with sports exhaust instead
I havent done much to my scoot since the last time i was on because ive been so busy with another project i was working on to get it through its mot for sale which ends on friday. Ive just ordered a few more bits for it to install when they arrive led lighting, halogen blue headlight bulb, waterproof cigar socket to make charging it a lot easier and replacement led bubs for indicators and brakelight and a immobiliser alarm system for it. theres enough to keep me going for a while now once they start to arrive. Will update with pics etc as soon as each install is done
Heya mate, I was randomly googling some info on the BS125 as I'm sure my tyres are running flat. Anyhow, I stumbled across this/your thread. Looking pretty good I must say. You've changed your tyres from the stock ones?
Hi mate and woohoo another Branson aka xingyue cobra and directbike sport. Thanks for the kind words anyways i assumed the tyres were stock fit as its only done 1000k since new its 010 plate. But the front tyre goes flat aft 2 weeks and it seems to happen over night too blow it up and its fine again for about 2 weeks and:/ very strange... Yours looks a fine example too did you know there is only 9 of these left ?
You seem to know a LOT more about the Branson than I do. 9 left? Your treads look very different to mine. Maxxis 130/60 53J. I'd like to change them as I don't feel very confident cornering at all at the moment. I'm not sure if its flat tyres - 28psi on the rear, or just poor grip.
Thanks mainly through frustration as they only made them for about 2 years before going bust so finding parts has been a challenge, 28 seems low? 33 for mine, 130/60x13. Grip n covering is pretty good but the headlights is shear rubbish 2 candles would light more lol. I've just ordered a halogen replacement to hopefully improve things. Yep according to howmanyleft . Com 9 is the number. If your thinking of mods etc try changing the variation rollers plenty on ebay and i can give you sizes but the weights is a personal choice. Aftermarket air filter is a good move if you don't mind the noise level....
Thank you. I really appreciate the advice, although I'm no mechanic - yet - and have very little idea what you mean with some of the things you've suggested. (Variation roller) I've looked at the rear rack but can't quite afford the £60 they cost just yet. Gonna start off small. A new headlight is a must. It IS crap. Could I ask what you've ordered? (Link)
No worries you'll know your scoot inside out in no time if you think of it as its only a few nuts n bolts, the link for the headlights bulb is Item: Tungsten Halogen lamp BA20d 12V 35/35W for ATV Scooter motorcycle Headlight Bulb URL: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=271147840836 It's fairly straight forward to change it too 5 cross head screws 1each side at the top corners were glovebox is. 2 under the front peak above the mudgaurd then slide peak backwards to unclip it from fairing, the last screw is under your l plate. Now the tricky bit grab hold of the fairing top part and slide it down towards the front wheel and the whole piece comes off with headlights attached. I hope that makes sense ?
Certainly does. Thank you. Do you think them bulbs are better than the ones already installed? And what's the 'variation roller'?
No problem glad to help mate, in theory yes because the gas in halogen burns a lot hotter therefore gives off more light but if im wrong im sure someone will correct me. A variation roller is basically a set of weights that spin round in the drivebelt casing and work by pushing the belt up 2 cone shaped washers increasing your speed and different weights create different acceleration rates so generally the heavier the weight through faster the bike will accelerate. And lighter weights give a quicker start but slower acceleration.. Its an easy job to do just takes a bit of tweaking to get it the way you want
Ha, doesn't sound easy. Lol. How would I find the roller? eBay again? Lol. I read on one of these threads that changing bulbs is fine but hotter ones can melt the headlight..
Lol the answer is yes to the first and it had been known but as long as you stick to mrt manufacture recommended type of 35w then it should cause no problems ;-)
Some pics of where im upto on my scoot LED High Beam running lights Side indicators LED style LED brake and tail light And this is where its all going on at the minute I've put an on/off switch inside the glovebox to turn the LED strip lights either way but they havent arrived yet, also an upgraded flasher relay is due soon because ive fitted LED ones in the std sockets all to help save a few amps on the battery. 2 underfloor white led strips 2 amber led strips for the side panels 1 red led for the rear light 1 blue led light for installing inside the cooling fan So all in all quite a bit going on, oh and ive ordered a waterproof cigar lighter to hook up to the battery to make charging the bike so much easier just plug it in and job done no more faffing with taking the battery panel off and fiddling with the terminal covers. There is also a immobiliser alarm system to be fitted yet im hoping it should look pretty smart when its all done.
You'r really investing some time effort and funds. Looking good too. You're adding a socket to charge the battery?
I have to confess to the power of ebay and got 90% of the stuff from international sellers if your in no rush to get the parts you can save quite a few quid Yeah im doing little often rather than doing everything at once, ive just finished installing the alarm system with an immobiliser and autostart features its also got anti hijack built in and damn its loud 125dbl. Yeah im putting a cigar socket on it for easiness just to keep the battery topped up when im not using it as its more of a play toy than a daily rider plus with the alarm it does take a small of juice and there's now't worse than going to it for a run out and the battery is dead :-(
