a mate of mine has done 40000kms on his 172. all its got is light rollers gearup and the 172 kit thats on standard crank and bearings etc no ring changes either imp:
My polini 70 kit has got me to work and back for the last 6 months with swiss watch reliability sometimes its been so cold outside its painfull to go over 40 mph...but the 70 kit hasnt missed a beat....ive just completed 4000 trouble free kilometres with it!! i would recomend the polini iron to anyone!!
ive thrashed my bike plenty of times in all sorts of weather and Im running a cheapo crappy £70 block of iron called 2extreme done like over 1000 miles already on it and it starts first time evry time, never increased any oil to the petrol mixture eithier goes to show that the majority of kits, cheap or expensive will last and work fine if its fitted and run in properly
Your right of course a lot of it is scare mongering People say how bad the china kits are and then sell you a china kit with a different name on it
ive put off having a 70 kit for months because i was worried about fitting it and it not running or blow up on me.. got the 2xtreme kit, fitted it with a standard runner carb and a 2xtreme variator, didnt upjet the carb or anything and it runs perfect only regret is the fuel economy but i think its running mucho rich :nerd:
