My china cubs have bigger front hubs than the honda ones so cant help really. Want me to post on the c90 club and camphill page for you?
Thanks Scuba. I was going to pm you and ask if you could give me your china ones dimensions, but you just answered that for me I've just joined on the C90 forum and posted the question so we'll see what comes of it. But looking at the early Cub hubs and plates, I think they will fit. I've got my eye on this at the moment: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131989488034?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT plus I've found a brake plate at CMSnl, waiting for them to let me know if it's available or not. Always covering bases me. If I can't get original, I'll get something that fits and suits.
Thats an early bigger one, later models went smaller if i got that the right way round. My china cubs have the bigger hubs
Well now, seems I won't have to buy a new hub afterall. I think it's cleaned up well, very well considering. There is some pitting at the very bottom of the hub, but this area is very thick so shouldn't affect the integrity of the hub itself There is only minor pitting to the brake shoe surface itself, again, I've seen a lot worse on newer bikes. That little bit of roughness may even help with the braking efficency. And that ragged edge has now gone. Nothing that a big flat file couldn't sort, I'm not too fussed about losing it. Got an email back from CMSNL, non-committal as usual, so i'm just going to order the brake back plate and see what happens. Fingers crossed.
Hubs all painted, and barrel and head. Sometime next week I'll start to lace the new rims up. I say sometime next week because the plasterer is coming in on monday, then when he's finished I've got mom's porch floor to tile for her. Currently refurbing the pick-ups wheels, thought I may as well seeing as I've got to put 4 new tyres on.
Scratching around in the workshop, can't do much until the wheel bearings turn up. Primed the front and rear mudguards, damn that chinese chrome is real thin on the rear. Glad it's getting painted, it would never stand up to normal wear and tear over here. Bit like the chrome on the technigas exhausts. Crap. I might be able to get the engine in the frame before the end of the weekend. Still got other bits to clean and paint, (fuel tank, oil tank cover, front apron, handlebar/headlight shrouds) but I can't see the point of doing them yet because when they are done they can go straight on the bike. If I do them now they will sit on the shelf and might get scratched/knocked.
YAY plasterers finished, looks sooo much better now. While he's been doing that, I've been doing this: Bit of dust over it Painted the front and rear mudguards Moving along slowly
The top eyelets weren't the parts I was on about painting, it was the top half of the shock tube. If you go back to the first pic of the cutlass on this thread, you can see the rear shocks are half and half colours, top half same colour as the bike, bottom half chromed.
Finally got a bit more moved on today. Can't believe how time has flown by since I last updated this. Managed to get the wheels laced up. Little problem though, the back wheels gone together nicely, but they sent me the wrong spokes for the front wheel. They're 5mm shorter in length and 0.5 mm thinner, and that's a big difference. At least I'll be able to true up the rear, fit the new tyre and tube and get it into the bike while I'm waiting for the new spokes. It may even be on it's main stand by the weekend.
sweet news steve, shame about the spoke mix up, but i bet it looks diamond with those rims laced and fitted
Well spotted Gil, Shame it doesn't look as good as mine. Mine wouldn't have fired up with just some fresh petrol either
How about an older one? lol http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/suzuki-m3...199520?hash=item1c82d6cce0:g:ZLIAAOSwIWVY98F5
