Nope, still as it looks in the photo.
Decided to do the engine first.
There is no colour code on this bike, at least none that I can find, got the Rio Red off an old brochure someone put online.

Nearly all the new parts have turned up now, just waiting on the leg shield.
The new chrome rear mudguard is typically thin on the chroming but no worries there as it will be painted, but the rear shocks are also chromed, and pretty decent too, might be a shame to paint the upper halves, I'll decide as and when I get round to fitting them.

Stripped the engine completely after finally getting the siezed mounting bolt out.
All new bearings and gaskets are already here for the rebuild.

Here's the sum of the engine components:

And you really wouldn't want to re-use these cylinder head bolts again:

I managed to get one engine half through the shotblaster so far, I'll continue this week sometime

That's going to be fun doing that up. Just goes to show no matter the age; if kept om storage properly!

Least your going to be busy over Christmas...can't wait to see her progress. How much did pay for that, I bet it wasn't cheap still.

Came to me FOC via a retired police officer. He just wanted it out of his conservatory.
It's the third one that's come my way like this.

thats a total bummer buddy, hate when you see it as a unit for sale, they take the cash then go back and cancel the whole thing.

Leg shield turned up just before christmas, but i'm not too happy with it.
It's obviously a factory reject, not stated on the advert, so going to have to batter the seller over head somewhat, although I cant see any real solutions coming out of it seeing as it's from Thailand.
The other problem is that I can't find any others anywhere, so I may well be stuck with something that isn't as perfectly new as I wanted. We'll see what happens, but i'm not hopeful.

Engine parts all clean now, ready for painting:)
Little bit of further polishing to do with the intake channel to remove some of the pitting but nothing much. IMG_20161226_164011.jpg

Doesn't really matter if it looks like the motor, it'll end up looking like the tank anyway;)

Not a total loss today, managed to get some done. Got as far inside the frame as I possibly could as well.
