Aluminium insulation and ductwork repair tape works well as a support medium for inside panels too. It's thin, fairly strong and moulds easily to the shapes of fairings. it's also cheap.

Thanks again Merlin, will order it. Also interesting read :)

One last question about the repair(I think) should I sand down the cracked area and around the crack to make it ruff for the cement to stick to or will that not be needed?

It won't be needed, as the cement will soften the edges so that they weld together.

    Thanks again :p

The foot panel, mud guards and stuff(the grey bits on a zip) are really scratched up badly, is there anyway to "buff" the scratches out or such? or would sanding them and painting them be ok? not sure what they would hold paint like.

Sand them, fill the scratches with car body filler, sand them back with 600 grit sandpaper and feather the edges into the surrounding paint. When you come to paint them, key the surface of the rest of the panel with a Scotch Pad to make it all dull and flat and the paint will take to it and bond to it OK.

Thanks Merlin, Don't plan to do the grey panels yet just thought I'd ask for the advice so when the time is right I can go ahead and paint them :)

I did the notice the scratches aren't really deep at all, I think a light sanding would remove them, don't think they are seriously deep enough to need filling, although I will let you know once I start work on them :p
