    Hiya all,
Picked up this carbed sr50 piaggio Saturday it’s a total barn find, main problem is the carb, I’ve got it off & cleaned it up but the inlet side is still completely blocked solid, I’ve connected the petrol hose into it & blown down the vacuum hose & it’s totally solid!
    Any tips?

All that crap has come from the tank. Take it out and clean it thoroughly and fit an inline fuel filter.

It’s got some type of vacuum pump under the tank, can the crap pass through there?
Anyway I’ve added fresh fuel & 2T oil & sucked the vacuum line til the fuel was nice & fresh, just the carb inlet to sort out now.

Oh that's worse than I thought.
That's from water in the tank.
    Hmmmm.
Soak it in some WD40 overnight.
Or an ultrasound cleaner will get it cleaned up if you have access to one

Gave it a good scrub & plenty of carb cleaner & WD40 stripped it down, then took it to a fellow scooter enthusiast who had a compressor & reminded me how to clean it properly !!
Installed tonight & got it running first time in about 5/6 years!!
But it’s bogging under a handful of revs, so either an air leak/water leak/head gasket?
Or do these SR50’s really really need the air filter to run?

Clocks look dead, is there a fuse to check or a place to send them off for a repair anyone knows of?

    Hmmm..
I don't think they have a fuse, worth checking the connectors at the back

Put the airbox on last night & it’s running! Still bogging a bit but I think that may be because of a head / base gasket leak, or a seal I can’t quite see (behind the autolube)
But I’m going to put it together today & fit new pads & check it all over for an Mot

I’ve noticed a lot of oil on the front calliper, but I’ve also noticed the oil filler is above it, so maybe a clumsy fill & it spilled all over? Or leaking fork seals?
I’ll get it cleaned up & check

All back together now, new front pads & fresh fluid pulled through up the calliper, panels all on properly for now, need a few fairing clips & screws, but aside from that it’s reafy for its mot now!!
