I've got it on good authority that half of the scooters tested on the rolling road by the police don't go anywhre near as fast as the kids thought. They come away disapointed but unscathed.

 

Surely even a restricted 50 will do over 30-40 on a rolling road though?

 

i havent got pulled over a lot of times.. 1 time every 6 months lol... and they never check my bike they only check my papers and sometimes even admire how nice it looks and ask me how much i bought it lol...

 

£160 to get my bike back and 60 court fine so yeh if you add them together what do you get £220? so im not "fucking lying" you cocky prick.

No i got my bike siezed got that back. then i got a letter saying that i can go to court or plead guilty through post so i just pleaded guilty through post and then a few week later got a letter saying ive got £60 fine which i could pay all at once or 5 pound a week and i also got 3 points

What sort of filtering were you doing? I filter like mad all the time, i mean isnt that the point of having a bike, the fact that most traffic jams become irrelevant. As long as you obey the stipulation of staying behind the first car at a junction or lights its generally ok, and if you have to filter past a cop car, you dont take the piss with a 35 mph overtake (or as a certain friend of mine put it, dont give them the bird while doing the overtake).

If you get pulled over by the local plod, they probably wont know much. If you get pulled over by Traffic or Bike cops, or one of the special car crime units, then dont try to bullshit them. They are the guys that read forums like this, know all about the guys that rag scoots and bikes around the roads of usually the less wealthy areas of the towns and cities, and have generally done the job for a long time. At the same time, admit to nothing. "Yes it came with this exhaust when i bought it, and i think its a bit loud and when i have some money im thinking of replacing it with something quieter", answers like that tend to show you give a shit. Saying something like "I dont think its noisy" or "I wasnt speeding in this 30 zone, my speedo says i was doing 30" when in fact you were doing 40, means they might blanket you with every check under the sun.

Generally as long as its legal, or you werent overly taking the piss, they will leave you alone. If you were filtering at 40 in a 30 zone, then expect trouble.

Personally, to the guy who got booked for the L plate violation, id have plead not guilty. You had an L plate on the front (and presumably one on the back) and that is the stipulation of the law, afaik. The fact it wasnt easy to see is maybe because placing it further up your scoot would have obscured the front light, which is a safety concern.

 

i was going like 30 ish on the side of the traffic and there was a lorry so i pulled inside and went around it on a bicycle path and there was feds in front of that lorry i went past them got in the line as i saw them and they just turned the siren off and came to me showing to pull over

 

That's nasty they didn't do you for the lesser offence of failing to display an L Plate but for the more serious offence of 'driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence' which gives them the power to seize the vehicle.
