Just been out to check the paint, it's gone off nicely, sorely tempted to start with the decals, just been eye-ing them in place, should look ok when they're on. But they must go under the laquer, so thats tomorrows job then.;)

All main panels finished and decals on, just sprayed the inner panels with satin black to smarten them up a bit, will do the wheels and fork ends and caliper a little later, got one in for MOT shortly.

Front wheel now painted, decaled and laquered, along with forks ends and caliper. Wondered why the front had a tube in it, considering it is a tubeless tyre fitting, bloody hole innit!!!
Pulled a turd through that, sorted.
I'll post some photos a bit later when it's all back on the front end.
    Looking nice.
Have made one mistake...............we'll see if you all can spot it...................

Er, Katana doesn't have 'Kerry' in front of it? Just kidding. :p

The 'Suzuki' decals are upside down on the lower front fairing panels.

Thought that was so you could plainly see Suzuki with your head down.:). -
Personally thought it was the seat strap retaining screw(s),as my resolution on photos/whilst good, can't do a major close & they look rusty.o_O.

Had a problem with the bike, found it to be an earth fault. Cured that, went for a spin to check that it wont cut out again, blown the piston. Only got 70 psi now. Getting a bit fed up with it to be honest. Needs to be working properly before I'm willing to sell it on.

    Finally!
Got the new rings and gaskets last week, finally got to start on it again tonight.
Bloody malossi piston rings!!! Had to file out the piston ring slots to fit the damn things properly,
Then had to grind the ends off the rings some to get them to wrap nicely.
Took me 3 bleedin' hours to get them to fit.
But at least now they're done.
Put the piston into the barrel, poured some petrol onto the top of the piston to check for leakage, nothing getting through. So thats a good indication that i'll have good compression again.
Wont take too long to fit it all back on the engine in the morning, so thats the first job. Then its on to the SP125 that will transform into a 180

Barrel back on, new gaskets, torqued down.
    Compression test.
    That'll do nicely I think:)

Right. Either i'm going mad or something is wrong here.
70 kit, stage 6 pro rep pipe, sports variator, malossi gear up, 21mm carb, open malossi filter.
WTF with a 147 main jet???????
Dont rev like, but at least it starts!!!!

Thats it, i've had enough for tonight.
Going to try a smaller carb tomorrow ,i dont think it likes the 21mm so going back to a 17.5. We'll see what happens.

So, another top end later and the old girl is up and running sweetly again. Put a 17.5mm carb on it for the running in process, starts well, getting better on the electric starter as well so I think the crank seal that was causing the engine tightness is starting to wear in nicely.
I need to get some T connections tomorrow. I would like to split the oil lines and create a feed to the intake manifold, seeing as it now has one. It actually has two extra oil feeds now with the manifold conversion and replacement carb.
    Let me explain.
As standard, these engines just have two oil feeds off the pump to each of the crank bearings. From there it is suction fed to the piston and barrel. But by using the manifold off an Aprilia SR50 Di-tech, it has enabled me to fit rubber mounted carbs; of which there are a multitude to choose from. Much better than the bolt on carb selection which is really hard to get hold of.
Anyway, the Di-tech manifold has an oil feed nipple in it, which at the moment is blanked off with a piece of folded pipe, which i can use to create an extra and closer oil feed.
Also the carb I have used has an oil feed pipe off the side of it. I could utilise this as well.
I could well be over thinking the whole thing, and it could possibly be too much oil for the engine to handle effectively, but taking into consideration the build of it, I think I would rather try, and then fail due to a blackened plug, than blow the whole damn thing again.
    Comments on this are welcome.
