i have recently bought a 2005 Yamaha Aerox that has a Leo Vince zx and a stage 6 sport variator but it accelerates up to 35mph fine but then stops accelerating and won’t go any faster, does anyone know what the problem might be?

I haven’t tried going higher yet, I’ve got some 5.5g rollers I could try. Would the rollers restrict the top speed that much?

Not restrict but if there the wrong weight it can have that effect

Stupid question maybe, but you took the restriction ring out I take it?

It doesn’t have the restriction ring, it only has the spacer that goes behind the stage 6 variator.

Long time since i worked on an aerox. But are you really supposed to have a ring on the backside of the variator?

It was the previous owner that installed the variator but I think it’s because the stage 6 variator is thinner than the standard one so it needs a spacer.

Well. As long as the belt goes all the way down on the vari its all good

I think the belt might be too worn. I measured it and it’s 15mm instead of 16.5mm

what size is the carb, on my recent delve in to the world of 50cc carbs, I found that some aerox have 12mm and some 17mm
