180's have a few extras that 125's dont (atleast on my 4 banger anyway).. For example, I can ride without lights on, or just side lights. I think there may be a few other parts that are slightly better/stronger than 125 bits. Not too sure though.
yea 180 have differant crank variator has steeper ramp angle differant belt been told only differance on clutch is cooling fins and obv cylinders larger n gears imp:
my runner was a 180 means if i wanted to i could easily put a 180 back into it if i have the money, prob do it may time when i get sum compo  :good:
a 180 has the same crank as the 125. same clutch with a fan on it (looses power, its drag) shitty case from the overmachining for the big cylinder and a 180 cylinder... the variator, cylinder and ONE of the gears in the box are the only diff things in a 180.. so no, 125's are much better engines.. as for having no light switch, its fuck all to do wiht engine size, its vehicle year, after a certian year you cant turn your lights off. so no, 180's suck. buy a 125, fit a 172 kit, fit a decent gear up, pissin on 180's
Old thread. Got to agree its much less hassle. Had to go through a whole saga for a mate to get a 180 legal on L's and its NOT worth the bother, 172 would have cut straight to the point and given better results sooner. If you fit the kit yourself from new and treat it right youll have a bit of peace of mind. Lets face it, 180 is factory and I would personally trust it more over a "big bore kit" if buying the bike USED, but buying a brand new kit is a slightly different matter.
ye, simple reason being old men did buy 180 runners, where as anything wiht a 172 you KNOW has been ragged/wheelied and abused from day one.
i agree with the 180 bit as most 180 engines are fresh, but pfffffffffffft my 172 as never been abused, wheelied or even had 2 up. thats ludicrus
