Sounds like it does need priming, and yea the fuel tank uses a vacum tap to stop the carb flooding when the engine is off both should be connected...
Yea don't worry bout it I bet its just a duff spark plug, mine does similar it ate 3 last week now its happy on its fourth one lol :D

Wasn't mine mate I just did the bodywork n the guy got offered a good price for it, and lol I'm over 6 ft tall and the cbr is plenty big enough...
