Just replace the seal, if you use an electric pump you have to strip the engine to remove impeller, replacing the seal does not involve engine strip.

A manual choke is non std nor is a 21mm carb, it could be the wires for the auto choke unit. Is the connector a roundish grey colour?

It's in my opinion not to use one, i think there a bad idea, lock the variator= no damage to piston!

Get a year 2000 or later rolling nut engine if possible then fit a Malossi barrel, wheelie off the throttle easy. std pipe will be fine .
The NRG mc3 forks should fit straight in and you have to use the nrg or runner wheel. Early Runner 50 upside down forks work well on a typhoon but...

Try adjusting the mixture screw in/out 1/2 turn.
I'm not 100% sure, I'm sure it's 2nd but just try both, you'll know when it's right.
