Take transmission cover off to have a look, has it got a S6 outer pulley ? if so it does'nt have teeth for starter motor.
It's normal to have one light lit, does it swap over to main beem ?
Have you connected the control feed to the battery ?

Air or liquid cooled ? A/C don't want to be less than 1mm, L/C could be 0.8 but that's about it. What's the rest of the setup ? pipe,carb, crank etc.
It is the green wire that earth's the ignition system to stop engine.
Make sure there's no pointy areas, sharp bits that could cause injury to pedestrians or you will get pulled !
Earth cable ? check earths regulator to frame, frame to engine and wiring block on stator, is wires too short ?
I 'd say it's turning over faster with kickstart !

Check the printed curcuit board on speedo as they corrode and if theres a poor earth it can do this .
Don't go mad on the gearing as it probably won't have the power to pull it !
