Good job you got it sorted. Just to say that a 12v battery sit's above 12v, anything below and it's flat.
11.8 volts is a dead battery, it needs to be at least 12.5v.
11.84 v is a flat battery, is the spark plug hitting the piston with after head skim?
Is the engine to frame earth good ? You could also try taking rear light bulb out then try electric start.
Your not trying to push and turn the key in are you ?
