yes it will still spin the starter motor(with low power) as there is no load on it(no crank to turn) Just take it back to the shop and ask for it...
check the voltage in the battery via a multimeter. also see if the voltage goes down over an hour or so. if its bellow 12v and/or draining power...
was battery charged well from new? if so, you probs have a component draining the shit out of it.

if it's a drum , then they probs de-glazed the hub, just give it a fe wmiles and it should be fine
