so you are running the 300 engine on the original 180 electrics/ignition system ?
I'm pretty sure you can just run a 250/300 engine on a carb to suit.
Sounds like you are experiencing heat seizures , also poor set up , main jet is too big and rollers are too heavy in my opinion.

So if your going down the road of cutting and welding , why not just cut the stems off and swap over? Surelly that is easier and less time consuming ?
Not a major fan of conversions but always had a bit of a soft spot for these. Nice one :)
LOL I've never built a LC (not for myself anyway) and find it a lot easier and much more hassle free with air cooled bikes.

Get one of a decent make otherwise you will be paying the same again in a short while . You get what you pay for.
