trust me the thing just got fed petrol and shitty 2 stroke oil and we were out all night every night and his never broke down..my ar50 ate pistons...
i would take it to 70cc.carb will need updating/re-jetting But as the engine is open its worth doing.. im sure someone has done the same on here...

Air leak would be my guess..id check around the carb area and gaskets for leaks
Get bike up to temp and rev engine flat out got 15/20 seconds and then kill the engine and remove plug to check colour.
Is that piece plastic..if so its your variator fan
