Either use a impact gun or the proper tool, you'll only end up breaking something if you use screwdrivers.

Down jet it a couple of sizes if its running rich
Check for spark, fuel getting to cylinder? Check compression is good? Give the carb a good clean. Check for air leaks ect..
No it doesn't come on but I don't think it works, so if it did I'd imagine it would coz it does get really hot!

Play around with the jetting then. Also check everything is assembled correctly, any air leaks around base gasket? Head gasket? Piston right way...

Not a fan of dna's but this is one of the nicest I've seen.
Usually standard engines can't pull gear up kits, not sure about yours though.
Check all earths are good and are firmly connected.
Do you mean the nut has stripped its threads? Or the actual stud has snapped?
I'm running a 98 main jet and its still not running that rich so I'm thinking its got a slight air leak somewhere leaning out the mixture.
