is coolant getting in and burning off? this can be a big cause of smoke/ check coolant levels too see if they are lower then before
defiantly fuelling, if the carb leaked through the overflow then the float height is off or the float valve or seal has failed or is stuck open....
does it leak? if it doesnt leak then do you have any starting or running issues? could be over jetted. could be something within the carb gone...

bike wise i have had both out side by side, me on the runner and brother on the rs. the runner has more power bottom end no doubt as it lifts easy...
i can i own both haha, they drive differently obviously but power wise the 172 wins bottom end whilst the rs and its higher gearing will go on too...
