    I removed the oil filter, dropped the oil out of the engine - dumped a 1/2 liter of oil into it with the sump plug removed (to rinse out the sump)...

    Alas- it's nothing that simple! But thanks for the thought. I think the carb (an Oko 21 mm which I have had for years), may just be worn out....

    Scoot working exactly the same. Insane at full bore, spluttery at slow roll on. Will try the needle and if that doesn't help, I'm going to see Yoda.
