Not something you fiddle with every day really! 'Specially since you can only get at the top of the thing if the rear end is completely undressed.....

Got the oil pump done on my son's ped - more oil on the bench at the end of it than left in the bikes oil bottle, oops. Then it wouldn't start, it sort of tried then died. Hmmmm, fiddled with mixture and tick-over screw got it fired up. Took it for a blast, didn't seize up so that was good and it had plenty of go. Taking it out on a longer run tomorrow to set the mixture and tick-over properly.

I'm wondering if the old pump was leaking air in, trying to figure out why changing the oil pump had such a marked affect on the carburation?

Just sanded & sprayed the rear damper, cup and spring for the Typhoon. That´s it. it can go back together and get registered when I get some nice new tranny case bolts and body work screws as well as a battery and a wing mirror. Chuffed.

More oil makes the engine behave richer. i had this when my gf´s scoot´s oil pump was on the way out. you could but any jet in the thing and it would refuse to cough. When i removed the blasted thing and switched to premix suddenly all became normal and the jetting became predictable.
I have heard race mechanics use this trick to compensate for not having the exact jet by increasing or decreasing the percentage of oil (within reason) to get the desired effect.

That would make sense, it certainly behaved as if the mixture had changed dramatically :)

Put the Exhaust Gasket and Paste on, still popping/blowing though!
tightened the clips around the waterpump pipes,
    went for a ride,
got pissed off as theres still a f*cked up noise coming from somewhere (louder as you ride more)
