gilera ice 50 project

Hi this is my Gilera ice I've recently brought cheap

someone tried to rob it smashing the ignition barrel, it was then left for a while so its weathered a bit since this pic was taken.
I have got it back on the road and will be using it while i work on it.
Its had some engine modifications so will go at a decent speed.

I am hoping to get a donor bike for the frame which i would like to get sand blasted and painted in the same color as this golf

and painted in the same scheme as this


am hoping to get this done over the next few months or sooner will update with progress when there is any

Had the bike in bits today after giving it abit of a spray with vw classic red paint and i think the paint suits it so will go and order some more tomorrow to paint the whole bike



after that i got abit carried away and took it all to pieces

and cleaned up the inside of the frame which was black and had a good layer of road and oil
now looks like this

then with abit of paint

and a piccy of my engine

i will be painting the clutch casing etc the same as the rest of the bike, would i need to use heat resistant paint??

would be nice to get it painted properly but its abit of a budget build and i do really like how the green ice in that pic is painted so am going for that just red, i will try and get the exhaust powder-coated and will be moving the silencer around so it blows at the road and not the bike.
lol i now have to resort back to push bike to go buy some paint tomorrow should be a nice 10mile bike ride to Nuneaton and back

today i have been sanding it down and put on the 1st layer of primer


some parts have started to bubble due to being awkward to prep but should be able to sort them out and they will be covered anyway

well have given it a spray with the red



still got a fair bit of spraying left but is coming along nicely :grin:

have been pretty busy and have painted the case that covers the variator and drive belt and the forks have painted in primer so far will add the picks of them red when theyre done



have given the foot peg plates a spray with lacquer and are looking good

will be spraying it all with the lacquer tomorrow

got my new mirrors in the post today aswell

but i think they're abit ugly

Looking good so far. You really need a better camera though!

yh i can agree with that, its meant to be quiet a good blackberry aswell

got some lacquer on it today




and put the foot pegs back together



will eventually paint the silver pegs black but for now they can stay as they are
i also finished of the front forks

have made abit of a fuckup scratched abit of paint so touched it up and didnt let it dry long enough before lacquering so will have to sand it back again

have been tidying and cleaning the engine
then put it all back together




eventually it will all be red i want to find out if the paint will with stand any heat of the engine

have painted the metal inserts on the front crash protectors

and started to prep the plastics

howmuch would you want for it? and do you have any pics
