Me again! Zip MOT is due at the end of the month, and I have a small query on steering. Had a flick through the manual but can't find info on this. Obviously the handlebars stop at a certain point when turning, but when I turn my right, they stop, but can keep on going, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure this is an MOT failure? Is it something simple? As I use the bike daily, I don't want to be stripping it down for no reason and it be in-active, which is why I thought I'd try my luck here first! Couple of pictures below to show. Cheers.
I did think that too.. But also would feel cheeky saying 'stick it through mate' as it could be his job on the line I suppose? Should it be a failure, yes?
Surely you didn't know the steering was faulty IF he find's it? "Oh bugger I'll have to get it fixed then" if he does!
Yeah I guess so! Main thing is just didn't want to waste my money incase it didn't go through. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'd still get it done mate , it's really simple , there's a small rectangular block welded to the fork stem , it stops on 2 indents on the headstock giving you steering stop locks . Sometimes the block falls off (shit factory tack welds) or get damaged by toerags trying it nick it . Anyway , you need those locks , eventually the wiring will be stretched/ripped , speedo cable , rear brake cable , front brake hose all get shagged in the process too .
Mine is the same hasent being fixed never failed its mot what i got told was the reason shy it turns that much is because the steering lock has being snapped therefore it has nothing to lip on to to stop it from turning that far by new steering lock and should be fine dunno if thats what its corsed by just what i have being told but i have never really worried about it tbh
I saw what you were on about. It literally is a TINY piece of metal! And yes it was sheared off. Will get a friend to blob a little weld or something on there. And Danby that makes sense too, but luckily my steering lock is unaffected!
