ive only just got round to mounting my engine today into my 50 zip frame and have found that the back trye is sticking quite far out from the back of the bike, and the back of the bike seems really low, is this normal or will i have to put a longer shock on it...
    just doesnt look right :confused:arc:
    any help :D
    thanks

ohhh and are looms as hard to fit as they look ....

the longer the shock the MORE likely the head will hit the frame.
DO NOT think a shock raiser will help either, it makes it worse
    you got a pic?

? sell it, BUY A 125 and have done with it.. take that apart, you have half a chance of getting it back together, THEN once you understand everything try and do a proper converison. it aint easy, askin "is a loom hard" proves your NOT up to the job of building what could potentially be an 80+mph vehicle.

    just leave it

i really dunt care what you say minor, okay im not as good as you by a long way but everyone has to start somewhere and id like to do it myself im just asking for some advice. dunt need you saying leave it, your not capable and all that bollox i just was wondering if this was normal for it to look a bit long.
and ye ill ask again is a loom as hard to fit as it looks ?

you missed my point completly. the fact is i agree, everyone has to start somwhere.. building a bike COMPLETLY from scratch (what you rattempting) without any clue as to how the bike go's together is pure dqangerous.. have you ever taken a 125 to bits? no.. so buy a 125 if you want a 172.. conversions are for chavs or people with lots of time on there hands, if done right are as good as the 125 the engine came from, if not better, this on the other hand is a bodged up mess befor its even built.. jog on

your wheel is too big, need to change the tyre to a zip rear (if your keeping the original forks but im guessing your gona go even sillier and put runner forks on it, erm, buy a runner) this is why the engine sticks out so far.. oh and the fact its a 125 engine. there BIGGER
the rear brake cable isnt gonna fit. the throttle isnt gonna fit, the loom you have NO chance with, fuck id be supprised if you can mount the coil and cdi without bodging the fuck out of it. basicly you should have kept the typh you took the engine out of, built that, got a clue about wiring breaks and fueling and THEN attempted a conversion as youve basicly gone "i got a zip right, i got a 125 engine right, ill grind it an itl go in then im done" bit mroe to it than that..

im not being an asshole.. being an asshole would be to encourage you to carry on cluelessly.. do yourself a fav. l;ook at the thing properly. a conversion means keeping the sdimilar wheelbase/geometry of the bike while getting a bigger engine in there. uits already in wrong, with the wrong tyre aND WILL TANK SLAP LIKE MAD (ITS THIS REASON PEOPLE PUT BIG FORKS ON, THERE TOO RETARDED TO REALISE IF YOU KEEP THE SAME REAR WHEEL SIZE THE THING HANDLES)

fitting the loom isnt as hard as it looks (at least on my sr it wasnt) i found that all the wireing has sumin 2 slot into so then u jus gota work out back and front. what loom are you using?

minor i dont know why you bover to help some times bruv. you give some one a bit of advice which is more or less common sense tbh and they say they dont care yet if you gave him the answer reqired he would care very much.

my advice to any one starting a project do as you please but try and listen to people that know a lot more then you and take in to context whats said.

if you cant do something you self theres nothing wrong with ; abanding the idea till further notice, paying some one else to do it, or watching some one doing it so next time you can do it your self.

like minor said its your life your playing with at the end of the day ;) :msn1:

glad you have thought enough about this to keep the original wheels. the loom is the tricky bit seing as how you have the engine in already, find a space for the coil thqat clears all the pannels, bolts down with both holes flat to the frame/a fabricated plate and as close to the cylinder as possible (not talking mm but close enough so the ht lead isnt stupidly long) put the cdi anywhere you can fit it also, but remember the statort wiring has to reach it, these you dont really want to be cutting about. the rest of the loom is the pain, basicly you want to start with the clock switches wich fit on some of the looms (newer shape typhoon looms) then run the loom back to the rear lights via the easiest rout. you basicly wqant to cut the old loom off leaving all the connectors in place, get both typhoon and zip wiring looms on the wall and start chopping about. rear lights, then fuel sender, then oil tank sender , choke if its fitted will plug in as should the oil sender, but dont count on it. then wire the starter relay and battery (dont actually put the batt on yet) just the wiring for it. remember the earth from the loom and the battery, rec will be mounted on the front of the bike and the horn will wire in. will be a lil relay at the front in a rubber mount, its the indi relay so secure it somwhere dont just leave it flopping about in there. another earth on the front then you can extwend the wiring for the headlights back to the clock area. then you gotta rewire the clock plugs. the real fun bit LOL

yes its sunday morning and im bored/hungover hence the reply LOL good luck with it tho and PLEASE have somone else confirm everythings in there properly. even if its just to confirm.

had a touch and the clock connectors all fit allready apart from the headlight which can easily be chopped and made to work. only other thing i need to make up is the ignition.
i have a spare zip loom somewhere so thats not a problem. everything else is basically done .
i have a spark now does this mean things are connected properly i have gone by the haynes manual
