Some of you guys remember I live in So. California. I live in the mountains about 3000ft and it has been a little too cool to ride. Also the wind gusts up to 60mph can change your mind about a ride in a hurry. This week we got real California weather. About 70f most of the day. It was fun to get the scoot out and after the carb maintenance, get the thing out on the back roads around the mountains. It was great fun. I have been distracted lately. Nothing like a good ride to get you back in order. What is it like where you are? Any ride time?
we have the second hurricane since november, snow, hail, ice, typical winter in the west of norway, not had so many days of hard frost, its been mostly over freezing point in the days dropping to about -5c in the nights, last week we had some serious cold nights. ive started using those handle muff things, could do with some heated grips too, but they will cost a fortune for genuine ones and i dont want to use aftermarket ones on the beemer
Been cold here in the UK as well. We get a damp, penetrating cold here, gets in your bones. No riding weather unfortunately, but I have just sorted out the rattle on my zzr at last. Turns out the tensioner was too tight, bouncing off the cam chain.
bout 80f here.no mountain ranges but a good few miles of sandy beach...but no bikes allowed..had a joint and now off for my dinner.
3 layers,-5 when i finished other night, loverly open-faced helmet.blasting along with the brisk wind in your face... quite invigorating............................................ .
I see the riders in China using the attached heated grips on SerpentZA youtube channel. The guy is a scooter motorcycle guy from South Africa now living in China. Very interesting stuff.
Had those bar muffs on when i rode 'red',but took them off.as did'nt like how they blocked vision on controls, hands are ....chilled,found i can get by fairly well as long as fingers don't dangle or single digit's exposed, generally keep a spare pair of gloves - getting them wet/wind chills a killer. No interest in heated grips,in the main,as will be wiring in a satnav power cable.it being a fairly well working/but worn 125,don't/would'nt want to put too much extra strain on electric's,luckily enough have a pretty kick-ass mechanic working on bike - has direct line to their tech.dept.
When I want to get off, I don't want anything keeping me from getting off. No attached heated gloves, no sissy bars. When I want to let the bike go, I want it to go.
Scuba, how are you doing? I haven't talked with you in several months. I hope things are going well. This whole selling a condo and moving into my 32' 5th wheel travel trailer has been an adventure. It is a bit like camping every day with great neighbors. The RV park I live in is on is owned by an Indian Reservation, it is still in California, just across from the Reservation which of course is a sovereign nation inside CA. Not subject to CA laws. They have their own. I could move across the street and a mile down a nice Reservation road and not be subject to CA laws. The Reservation laws are pretty much the same, except they don't care much for things like taxing vehicles unless they take them out into the world. Me, I have to because I ride to the nearest town 7 miles away for beer and food, mostly beer ;-) Would you guys like to see photos of the high desert mountains where my digs are now?
I would love to see photos of the area where Scuba and Mark live. Norway is unknown to me, and England is a big place. I have only seen the convention center in London. Any chance of you guys posting photos?
well burton is very near derby..the peak district is the nearest place for a good long ride through mountain roads etc .its a national park thing so its all protected environmental wise..cant kill the wild life or anything like that.im originally from Gillingham Kent but burtons better.I'm in India at the mo on a 6 month get away..no one bothers about road laws here too...so long as the horn works.no helmet. joint drunk..all no problem riding here.
UK in general is a shithole. that's all that needs to be said really. its not the cold that gets to me, as stevep said it gets to your bones and it kills me. atleast our winters aren't as harsh as some of the states over there, and atleast theyre not as bad as canadas ey. in the US in june/july for 2 weeks. woooo!
hows that for you? various places around where i live its truely stunning here and i live right by the sea (bottom pi is from my balcony)
