    Hi folks,
I'm Derek and I have a 2008 Yamaha x-city for getting about Edinburgh. Been using for 6 months and have no complaints so far. Perfect for zipping around town.

When I went to use it on Sunday morning, I found the front cowling hanging off and cut marks on the lock.
It looks like someone has tried to hotwire it? I'm not sure, but that's what it looks like.
If you look at the attached image, the red and brown wires were loose and it looks like they've been cut from the black protective sleeve (lying on the left). I'm getting nothing from the ignition (nothing comes on at all), but when I twist the red and brown wires together everything comes on. I can try and start it, but it just turns over and doesn't actually start. It will start, though, when I put the key in.

Can anyone advise what I need to do with the red/brown wires? It doesn't seem to be obvious.
    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers...

tried to bypass the imoboilizer / ignition to steal it

it will turn on becaus eits made the electrical system hot but because the imobo is still active the bike wont fire up as it does not see a key bind. when you put the key in the imobo sees this and then lets the bike fire up.

really need to find out what wire loom they got yanked out of and thats about as far as i can go. not able to find a wire scheme for the X-city where we can trace those wires to the source point you need. you may need to visit a yamaha dealer to find out exactly where they need reconnecting to.
