Had this Yamaha Neos 2T for a few years riding to work Sadly engine seized up and to bad to repair and needed new engine but was very expensive So decided to get second hand engine off Ebay but went for a 125cc GY6 4T 152QMI Got one for 99p, no bids, with rear wheel and no caliper. Was local so could spend a bit on engine alone at that price Striped out head and all good no wear of bore and looking very new inside To fit in scoot would have to alter engine top bracket which I did Wiring was simply changing plug from stator and used original 2T CDI unit although have read you cant, but you can as only 1 degree difference in advance and works as is AC voltage so no case to rewire So got it running and gave it a test ride and goes really well A few other things had to do was this scoot was a 2001 model with manual choke so with different carb had to wire in for electric choke It now has all round disc brakes after rear brake lever ,pipe and caliper as one kit, which is good and a 1 inch bigger rear wheel but is on low profile tyre so no difference to front. The Neos has the centre stand on the bottom of the engine but 125cc does not so fabricated a new one with gas shock operating, no spring Sorry did not take photo's as doing conversion, but here is the finished scoot,
Looks so good ! 125 engine for 99p !!!! There's me struggling to find a clutch and it nearly costing me £372 hahaha
UPDATE Took it out for a second run and coming back home heard a loud bang and a weird noise Limped home about 1/2 miles and found that a small branch had got flicked up by front wheel and punched through to cooling cowl and smashed the fan F... it UPDATE New fan and repaired cowl The culprit
I don't know as I am always on the alert of any rubbish in the road, But suppose it does happen. Maybe need a new pair of glasses hahahah
