Have you got a pipe coming out the back of the engine case? Just infront if the rear wheel.

Mine had the hose blanked off because of my sports pipe, but it split making a huge air leak

I have to wet the plug with fuel to get it to fire... when it finally fires, you can start it all day... only when you leave it for 6 or more hours... it wont start

Isit manual or auto choke? If auto is it connected/still working? If manual have the cable snapped?

Could be choke, or the reeds may not have the correct clearance or may not be working properly. I had a similar problem in the past, turned out to be the reeds.

I have never run a choke. I live in Queensland Australia, and it never really gets cold enough to use a choke. But in saying that, I have a 19mm carb with a cable choke. I did try it and still nothing happened. I am having to inject fuel into the carb by hand to get it to fire up
