Hi, im new to all this but thought id see if anyone has any suggestions, i have recently bought a Yamaha YQ100 Aerox and it was in a bit of a state, i have today put a brand new cylinder and piston (standard) on it as the old one didnt look good! The bike didnt have any fuel in it whilst i was doing the work, after finishing the work i put a fivers worth of fuel in it and after a small amount of turning over she fired up lovely and sounded sweet! But then she cut out and there was a fair bit of fuel coming out from the carb, it was leaking from the bottom of the chamber, im not sure if it is supposed to have a pipe on it or not but it never had one when i got it, i took the air box off and disconnected the pipe connecting the box to the carb and there was a lot of fuel in there too! Could this possibly be a damaged or dirty float needle? The thing is i think i would of noticed this before but it only had a tiny amount of fuel in it when i got it, if this is the case what would be the next course of action? Any help would be gratefully appreciated!

Could be the float is sticking, or the fuel tap is stuck open.

If the float IS sticking, how would i go about sorting that? Would i have to remove the float bowl at the bottom of the carb? The fuel tap maybe stuck open also but underneath the tank where the tap is, there is no on/off/reserve etc, just a tap with the main fuel pipe and a smaller one which i assume is a return?

UPDATE.. I have stripped the carb twice, the first time there where no noticable faults, i gave it a good clean and put it all back together but the problem was still the same, after taking the tank out and checking the tap and everything else i stripped the carb again this time removing the needle vavle and the float assembly, after refitting it all again this seems to have done the job as the carb is no longer covering my patio with petrol and she fires up and sounds lovely, must of been some crap stuck to the needle vavle or something??

Yeh probably, glad you've sorted it now.
