Hi Just took ownership of a 250 xmax.
Last bike was a NC700x and although I love the ease and fun of the xmax I am missing a bit of power.
Main issue is A road overtaking at 50 mph ish- not a lot missing but enough to put me off.
Does a slip on exhaust make much difference?
    Any other suggestion?
    Cheers

No, an exhaust won't make a great improvement, if you want faster then buy bigger !

get a upgraded variator but would only make a slight improvement

or get a big bore fitted and exhaust and variator

When fitting an after market pipe I want better performance, not a better sound !

A pipe in and of itself will do very little for performance on a scooter. It's simple math. A pipe itself is worth somewhere around 1-1.5 hp, on a 300 cc scooter. So on a 150 , or even a 50 , you're talking less than 1 hp power increase. That's not enough for you to feel, no matter what you perceive. The path to better performance on a Scooter is a pipe plus air filter modifications/ clutch modifications/ variator modifications or for the ultimate in performance, a big bore kit.

    Wisdom there.
Well except for 2 stroke engines, swapping out the standard pipe on a 2 stroke can sometimes get up to 50% more power.

But on a 4 stroke your going to see results only really on a dynomometer and the power comes in the midrange with an open pipe.
I myself like to run loud pipes regardless.
But most of my bikes have more tuning than just a pipe

I’ve got the akropovic exhaust on my Xmax 125.
I can verify it sounds brilliant but doubt it’s done much else.
