Xbox 360 Ring of death..ish

Read a old post on here about the ring of death but mine is a bit different.

It's been happening the last couple of days, I could be playing normally but then it will show the red lights. Today, playing it for about 15 mins and it went on the red light. Restarted it and it was fine for 5 mins.

Is this the ring of death or ???????

I watched a gay american bloke explain the towel trick but it mentioned it might only work for like 5 more days.

It's still under warranty for this:

Do I take it into a shop or ring microsoft?? Don't really want to lose my hard drive with all my saved data on. Will I lose this?

 

Go back to the shop you bought it from .... and i am sure they will be able to sort you out with a new one or send it of for repair

 

take the hard drive off

go to x box website and get there number they will pick it up i think

yer ring the game shop first, if they cant sort it or give you a replacement, you will need to ring microsoft and they will pick it up, fix it and send it back for free! which will take about 2-4 weeks i think.

 

Make sure the connections are working, such as the power lead and not a faulty socket. I had that once and it was a dodgy socket which kept sparking.

 

You can but some extra cooling shit for it from ebay .... my cousin did and his has been working perfect for the past 8 months

 

Hopefully it won't do it again so I won't have to send it off.

All connections are fine guy

Didn't know about the cooling being on its side etc so I'll just keep it upright then.

Yeh helmet I seen those cooling things, might be a investment

iv had my xbox laying on its side since january and use it nearly everynight, and havent had a problem of it overheating.

there are even bits of rubber for it to lay on its side :wtf:

 

Personally them extra fans dont work

when i told microsoft about my problem they said that the extra fans are over heating it because they dont spin equal to the onboard fans or somthing

But i couldn't send them my xbox because it was chipped . sold it 200quid in the end

 

Mine can't be very good on a carpet though can it ? :wtf:

 

iv heard they are crap aswel because they blow air in when your xbox is tryin to blow out the hot air.

It has finally stopped working

So do I just take the console into any game shop without receipt and trade over a new one? I'd hate to wait for weeks for one

Do I need it to be boxed and have receipt or neither? Should I ring them instead?

 

give the game shop a call first mate, a see if they can give a straight refund.

if they wont/cant for any reason as the problem is probably to do with microsoft, then they will give you the number to ring microsoft.

My friends one just did the same thing jeff.

Took an HOUR on the phone to MS.

And they STILL havn't picked it up.
Been over a fortnight now.

He just did the towel trick and it runs sweet now.

You take the harddrive off before you send it back.

Oh and the MS guy said to lay it down, and not to keep it upright lol.
