Changed brake pads in the ped a few week back now cos they were metal on metal, then coming out of the mighty asda before (was buying tomorrows dinner for work lol) they were making a grinding noise again, no way can i need some new ones already?

or is there something stupidly wrong with my brakes? lol

copper grease SHOULD be applied, it should be on the back of pads, to stop the metal on metal squeeking.

not much else to it mate

ahh right ok then :p as you see i know shag all lol...

the metal "Squeaking" ? what you mean by that, it just sounds like 2 pieces of metal grinding against each other as though they're worn down again...

or is that what you mean by 'squeaking' ?

could be rock salt on your pads...from gritting the roads..

best to whip the pads out to check, if they are worn down already,

you must have a sticking caliper, quite common this time of year ;)

whats common? the rock salt or the calliper?..

out of those 2 im guessing its the rock salt seems to be all our council spends fucking money on - even then the manage to get it everywhere but the road -.- usless twats lol

yeah that too, best thing to do really is to rebuild the calipers. dont even have to use new seals,

just take the caliper off, split it, pull the piston out, take the seals out and in apot of brake fluid, clean the grooves thoroughly, clean the seals, seals back in, piston back in, fresh pads with copper grease on the back, caliper on, blead the brake.

really is a 15 min job and improves brakes dramaticly, i done both of mine a few weeks back and will probs do it again before summer.

the rock salt gets in every where, and its a corrosive,

which means it starts eating away at your car, scooter what ever...

when the grit/rock salt gets onto your pads/discs can make a scraping noise,
    similar to worn away pads...

when it gets onto you brake pistons it causes them to stick, you may not even notice, untill your pads wear away in double quick time :msn1:

ahhh right ok then guys thanks :)

get my dad to sort it when he comes home tomorrow, bastard goes away for a weekend and my brakes decide they wanna make a funny noise, roads decide to try and throw me off, tyres decide to feel flat lol...

oh well! :D back tomorrow, i'll get him to fix it hah

im not sure what the set up is like on the aerox, but on the runner for example

you have to take the rear wheel off before you can take the rear brake caliper off...

but on a lot of peds...runner included, you cant take the rear wheel off without taking the exhaust off

but if you just undo the rear wheel nuts almost all the way, it gives you enough free play to wangle the caliper out from inside the rear wheel ;)

as i said not 100% sure if this applies to an aerox, ive never worked on one...

to my knowledge at the minute it's only the front one doing it :p lol, and i need a new back tyre atm anyway - mines barely legal (considering you only need visible tread) thats how bad it is lol...

quite funny that, i know someone who drew the tread on his tyre before an MOT with permanent marker and it passed with just an advisory.

personally below 1mm and its time to replace
