Hi guys. This project had been sidelined for a while but I'm now back on it.

Forks were feeling particularly badly damped and the stanchions were rusted/pitted so I thought I should overhaul them before putting this on the road. Problem is it appears someone has put non standard forks on it at some point and I have no idea what model they're from, finding spares is difficult!

The forks I have appear to be Kayaba, two pinch bolts for each side of the front axle, legs can only be removed from the steering stem by removing the top cap (which is flat and takes a 10mm allen key). 1 spring and a damper in each leg. Unfortunately the parts are in various places so I can't take a pic at the moment.

It looks like I have these:

Or these - except there is only 1 spring in each leg

£1150 for a fork spring appears a tad expensive to me - call me a cheapskate ;D

    TIA

Looking at the parts where the front mudguard fits I'd say they were Runner 50 forks. I have something similar on the shelf. Customer wanted to fit them to his 180 but didn't because he couldn't use his current mudguard and it was a different wheel spindle diameter.

    hmmm.
As it's a bit of a rat bike I'm going to take the cheapest option and do a superglue repair on the pitted areas - the tubes are pretty solid apart from maybe half a dozen pits in the area that will pass through the seals. I was quoted £200+ for rechroming (!?!?)

Pits going through the seal area will kill the seals within a few months.
£200 is about the going rate for a re-chrome.
