    I have a stage 6 adjustable clutch.

My clutch needs adjusting and the variator belt is slipping.

Could this cause it not idle correctly?

There is also a lot of smoke coming out when its hot or cold.

maybe, it could be revving up, catching the clutch, then slowing down again because of the resistance

believe it or not 1 of my reeds snapped the other week so that's only just been replaced.
It seems to be idling ok now but earlier today it wasnt having none of it.
I can 1/4 throttle and go straight to 50 and if i do anymore all i get is noise and it wont go over 50.
Also due to variator pully slipping i think its red-linning because of it, it sometimes makes a knocking noise if i full wack it.

what happens if you try half throttling it?
could it be possible that the main jets too big and is choking it at high revs?

Just makes a deeper noise due to opening the throttle more, i can feel the engine wanting to pull more but due to a bad variator belt it wont allow more than 52ish. The bike was running fine so i dont think its the jet.
I had to change the gears at one point because id get to 62 and the gears was crunching. Friend changed it and he stupidly spilt gearbox oil over the variator belt since then 52 is max i can get. Can feel the engine wanting to go more but it wont.

you might wana get a new belt then, the smoke might be the engine revving its bollocks off but due to the slip you dont notice, like if youve ever seen summat like an mx bike thats been dropped and the throttle stuck, they usually cough smoke out like a bastard
